Global health advocate
Marianne is global health advocate within the Access to Medicines team of Wemos.
Marianne obtained a master’s degree in Public Health Law from the University of Amsterdam and in Comparative Politics of Eurasia from the National Research University HSE in St. Petersburg, Russia. After her studies, she worked for the International Treatment Preparedness Coalition. There, she actively engaged with global health challenges, particularly the accessibility and distribution of HIV and AIDS medicines in former Soviet states.
Now that Marianne moved back to the Netherlands, she continues to advocate for adherence to the fundamental human right to health. She utilizes her knowledge and experience to work for universal access to affordable, safe and high-quality medicines. Particularly, she focuses on alternative funding models for the pharmaceutical industry and intellectual property rights of pharmaceutical companies that develop innovative medical technologies.
