VACANCY: COMMUNICATION ADVISOR (16-36 hours)

We are looking for an energetic colleague to help us shape our communications and create impact. In this role you will actively contribute to the effectiveness and visibility of our (inter)national programmes.

Our ideal candidate enjoys translating the complex content of our work into clear and attractive (online) communications that are appealing and convincing to a wide audience. You will develop various communication products: from comprehensible articles, video’s and infographics to a well-structured social media approach. In doing so, you seamlessly adapt both form and content to the specific target group.

Health is a universal human right. As an independent civil society organisation, we aim to improve health worldwide. In line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the ambition for Universal Health Coverage (UHC), we dive into questions such as: How do we achieve a fair and sustainable deployment of sufficient healthcare personnel worldwide? How do we ensure sufficient financial resources to provide everyone with access to good health? And what is needed to ensure that medicines are accessible and affordable? 

Based on our knowledge and experience, we influence governments and international institutions, and we work with local organisations linking their national advocacy to the broader global changes and vice versa.  

We work, together with like-minded organisations in Africa and Europe, on three themes: Access to Medicines, Finance for Health, and Human Resources for Health. What will you be doing?

  • You come up with innovative and effective ways of reaching our audiences like policy makers, politicians and donors. 
  • You create (online) content whereby you make the work of Wemos tangible and appealing to a wide audience. 
  • You (co)develop an effective social media strategy to reach Wemos’ audiences and to increase the engagement and conversion to our website. 
  • You create, place and promote messages on our social media channels and website. 
  • You will monitor and analyse our social media channels and website. 
  • As communication team we are in the midst of a rebranding process: you can actively contribute to this project, which includes the renewal of the Wemos website. 
  • You contribute to the (inter)national visibility of Wemos and our programmes. 
  • You are a star at editing texts and know how to make complex matters comprehensible. 
  • You contribute to our communication strategy and annual plans.

Position in the organisation

You are part of the communication team in which you work together with three fellow communication advisors and the communication manager, who is also your supervisor. You will also work closely with the programme teams.

What we offer

  • A challenging position in a small, international team of highly committed colleague who enjoy working together. 
  • Working hours and days are negotiable from 16 hour to a maximum of 36 hour per week. 
  • A contract for one year, with the possibility of extension. 
  • A competitive gross monthly salary between €2.780 – €3.961 depending on professional experience, based on a 36-hour working week. 
  • A modern office near the centre of Amsterdam, with good facilities. You have the possibility to work remotely for 50% of your working week. 
  • Good fringe benefits, including a sponsored lunch, a working from home allowance and the opportunity to attend different training courses every year.

What we ask

  • Higher education (vocational) degree or proven working experience.  
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role in the field of communication. 
  • Demonstrable writing and editing skills in English (preferably native level). It is an advantage if you also speak Dutch. 
  • You are a strong and creative content creator. 
  • You have good ideas about using and developing social media to reach and convince target audiences. 
  • Experience with developing digital communication (social media, SEO, SEA) and analysis. 
  • You are flexible and a team player. 
  • You have strong affinity with the themes on which Wemos works. 
  • You have a work permit to work in the Netherlands.
  • We consider experience in the topic of Global Health an advantage.
